Dermal Fillers

Restylane is a cosmetic dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that exists naturally in the human body. It is for this reason that allergy testing is not required. Restylane helps replenish the volume that the skin and lips lose through aging.

Restylane is approved by the FDA for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Many people use Restylane to treat the lines that form from the nose to the corners of the mouth, known as nasolabial folds. Restylane can also be used to fill-in other facial wrinkles and folds, or to lightly plump and/or define the lips. The results last for about 8-10 months for most people — which is about twice as long as collagen. Restylane treatments are typically scheduled twice a year.

WHAT CAUSES WRINKLES AND FOLD IN THE SKIN?

One factor involved in the development of facial wrinkles is the amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that provides skin with flexibility and volume. As we age, our skin begins to lose some of its hyaluronic acid, which decreases the skin’s volume and increases the speed at which wrinkles and folds occur.

IS RESTYLANE SAFE?

Restylane is one of the most researched products of its kind (dermal fillers). Restylane has been used for over a decade and has a wealth of published studies that indicate its effectiveness and safety. Restylane is FDA approved, and is available in over 70 countries. It has been used in well over 1 million treatments in the United States. Though patients with a history of sensitivity to gram-positive bacterial proteins may need to check with their physician before treatment, there are no animal proteins in the compound and therefore there is no allergy testing required.

HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED TO GET RESTYLANE?

You will begin seeing results shortly after your first treatment, and results have been documented in clinical studies to last for up to 18 months. For most, it lasts around 8-10 months, give or take. Results are unique to each individual and the doctor will be able to evaluate your progress before deciding when another treatment should be administered.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WHEN I COME TO YOUR OFFICE FOR RESTYLANE?

Usually numbing cream or numbing injections are used, depending on patient preference. So, you may need to wait for the numbing to take effect. Results are fairly immediate and no downtime is required. Most people experience a little swelling or redness for a few hours afterward. In some, minor redness, swelling or bruising can last for several days or even up to a week, though it’s our experience that this is rare.

WHY DOES IT MATTER WHO DOES MY RESTYLANE IN LOS ANGELES?

Anyone with a nursing credential and some training can perform injectable services. We keep our prices very competitive, while offering expert injections by Dr. Elhosn. The difference lies in years of specialized aesthetic training, level of experience, physical skill, and an eye for getting a good result that looks natural. With years of experience in injectable treatments, Dr. Elhosn is able to effectively gauge the amount of dermal filler to use, the brand/type and exactly where to put it to make it look great.

Lip Augmentation With Restylane Kysse

Beautiful lips are something everyone wants and now everyone can have. Lip enhancement has gained much popularity over the past two decades. Patients desire fuller, more sensuous yet natural lips. Patients who come to see us for lip augmentation fall into two categories: those who desire more voluptuous lips and individuals who want to restore a more youthful shape. Fuller lips are sought out by younger patients. The latter group is treated using our “Cupid’s Bow Lip” technique. The Cupid’s bow lip is the V-shaped area in the center of the upper lip along with the philtral columns that go up to the base of the nose. However, all lip treatments are individualized for each patient’s special needs.

Lips should be treated by first determining what should be enhanced. Is it more definition? Is it a fuller body of the lip that is desired? Each is treated differently. Just like putting on lipstick. The lips are first outlined by enhancing the border, akin to lip liner. This is followed by filling the body of the lip for volume.

Aging lips

Gravity eventually takes a toll on every part of the body, even the lips. As we get older, the upper lip loses not only volume, but firmness and definition. As a result, the Cupid’s bow, a signifier of youth and beauty, is lost, leaving an undefined, flat line in its place.

As in all areas of cosmetic surgery and enhancement, there are a number of ways to recreate beautiful lips. A consultation with Dr. Elhosn will help determine the best treatment for you. There are a number of substances that can be injected into the lips to make them fuller.

For truly aesthetically perfect lips, the lower lip should be at least 1 1/2 times the size of the upper lip. That is the way medical books on aesthetic surgery and beauty experts alike define it; that’s what the well-informed patient desires, to achieve natural – yet enhanced – glamorous lips.

OPHTHALMOLOGY; ROUTINE EYE EXAMS

Keeping your eyes healthy is as important as keeping the rest of your body healthy. In many cases, your eye health has a significant impact on your overall health. Proper eye health starts with routine eye exams, which we comprehensively perform at Eye Consultants of Texas at our Grapevine and Fort Worth locations.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING EYE EXAMINATIONS?

When you come in for your routine eye exam, we carefully test for any changes in your vision. You’ll be screened for glaucoma, cataracts, and other common vision problems. Just like you, we want you to leave your eye exam with a clean bill of eye health!

WHY ARE THEY IMPORTANT?

The purpose of a routine eye exam is to catch any problems early so they can be more easily treated. Eye diseases and conditions, such as glaucoma and cataracts, develop gradually over time. In some cases, these diseases can cause permanent vision loss before symptoms are even noticed. Having your eyes checked regularly can identify vision problems even before you have symptoms.

Has it been awhile since your last routine exam? Call our office at 817-410-2030 and we’ll be happy to schedule an appointment with one of our doctors.

CAN WE ADD GLAUCOMA TO OPHTHALMOLOGY TAB AFTER DIABETIC RETINOPATHY. THANK YOU

Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve,
the structure that connects the eye to the brain.
If the pressure inside the eyeball is too high,
over time there is damage to the nerve cells of the optic nerve. A complete eye examination is necessary to detect the presence of early glaucoma and to identify those individuals who are at risk of developing glaucoma.

Two Major Categories of Glaucoma:

Open-Angle Glaucoma
In open angle glaucoma, there are usually no early symptoms. Early in the disease, subtle changes in the peripheral vision may occur which are not noticeable by the patient. In fact, visual loss occurs so slowly and gradually, that patients do not realize anything is wrong until the disease is quite severe.

Closed-Angle Glaucoma
In closed angle glaucoma, the drainage system of the eye suddenly becomes completely blocked.

This can result in a very rapid elevation in eye pressure causing symptoms like decreased vision, pain, redness, and even nausea and vomiting.

Older individuals, individuals with a family history of glaucoma and individuals with other eye diseases are at a greater risk of developing this disease. Asians are also at an increased risk of both angle-closure and open-angle glaucoma (especially normal tension glaucoma).

Treatment of Glaucoma:
Treatment of glaucoma include medications such as eye drops, laser treatment, and surgical intervention.
